Anorexia Nervosa is a very serious eating disorder that many people suffer from. People with Anorexia Nervosa go days without eating.

People who suffer from Anorexia Nervosa have an intense fear of gaining weight. “The core psychological feature of anorexia nervosa is extreme overation of shape and weight”(“Anorexia”1). Even the people who suffer from Anorexia are very thin they still fear gaining weight. ¨The word ¨Anorexia¨ literally means ¨loss of appetite¨ (Watson, 7). Anorexia Nervosa is a coping mechanism for people to gain control of their life (¨Anorexia¨ 4). The disorder can affect all people, it is not targeted to a specific gender or race. Anorexia affects the way people see themselves, people will tell them they are thin and they will not believe them. People with anorexia are concerned when they go out to eat (“Anorexia Nervosa” 4). They will stand rather than sit to look more thin and are very active in sports. They exercise excessively to burn more calories. People suffering from Anorexia Nervosa wear many layers to hide their dramatic weight loss and to stay warm. Having to be perfect plays a huge part in having Anorexia, also anxiety and low self esteem. (¨ULifeline¨ 2). They need to have control of their life, it is a need. When around food they become stressed because they are tempted to eat. Anorexic people make many comments about feeling ¨fat¨ even though have lost a huge amount of weight. They become withdrawn from their friends and isolate themselves from every person. The amount of stress in a person’s life can be one of the causes for Anorexia Nervosa. (Watson, 20) Anorexics purge which is self induced vomiting with the misuse of laxatives, dieting pills and other medicines. Family and the society’s impact has a huge impact on the treatment of Anorexic patients. ¨Early on, especially in younger patients motivation for treatment lives with parents school teachers, or medical professionals¨ (¨Anorexia,¨ 7). The family of the person with Anorexia Nervousia has the biggest beneifical impact. People who have a family member with anorexia have a greater risk for anorexia (¨ULifeline,¨ 2).
