Article 1 Article Analysis and Evaluation of Research Ethics Essay
Point Description
Broad Topic Area/Title Importance of telehealth in-home healthcare for patients with congestive heart failure
Problem Statement

(What is the problem research is addressing?)

There is an increase in the number of chronic illnesses in society due to an increase in the number of the aging population. These patients with chronic diseases need special hospital attention to reduce mortality and disabilities from diseases. However, accommodating all these chronic patients will cause a strain on the hospital resources; human labor, and economic resources.
Purpose Statement

(What is the purpose of the study?)

To reduce the hospitalization of chronic patients by offering telehealth for home healthcare services. To improve the quality of life for all patients suffering from chronic illnesses. To cut down on the cost of healthcare in the hospitals.
Research Questions

(What questions does the research seek to answer?)

How will patients suffering from congestive heart failure benefit more from telehealth home health care compared to the usual home health care?
Define Hypothesis

(Or state the correct hypothesis based upon variables used)

Telehealth home health care has proved to provide a better prognosis for patients using it comparing to those not using it.
Identify Dependent and Independent Variables and Type of Data for the Variables Dependent variables are the patient benefits or satisfaction and covariates such as age, gender, prior home health services, and living alone status.

Independent variables are the telehealth home care and the other normal home care agencies Article Analysis and Evaluation of Research Ethics Essay

The population of Interest for Study Adults above 18 years suffering from congestive heart disease and are receiving healthcare in a home agency. Home care services using telehealth equipment for health care delivery. Patients with cognitive ability to use telehealth equipment at home with the guidance of a registered nurse. All patients in-home health services regardless of their payment method.
Sample Telehealth home health (TELE) group

Usual home health (UHH) group

Sampling Method Simple stratified sampling method
Identify Data Collection

Identify how data were collected

Questionnaires were distributed to those who participated in the usual home health group and the telehealth group. The researcher requested participants’ consent. This data was collected in a period of 4 months.
Summarize Data Collection Approach The questionnaires were divided into two sections. The first section had demographic variabilities such as age, gender, living alone status, and prior home health services. The second section documented the client’s satisfaction with choices of uncertain, satisfied, very satisfied, and dissatisfied.
Discuss Data Analysis

Include what types of statistical tests were used for the variables.

Out of the 176 participants, 86 returned with a response rate of 48%. The UHH group was 48.2% while in TELE was 50%. Most participants were females between the ages of 59-99 years old.
Summarize Results of Study Patients who participated in TELE home health care services reported a very good outcome despite the patients that used the usual home health care.
Summary of Assumptions and Limitations

Identify the assumptions and limitations of the article.

Report other potential assumptions and limitations of your review not listed by the author.

The limitation of this study is the inability to generalize samples to a large population. The descriptive and quantitative research and sampling method did not support a cause and effect relationship of the findings.

The assumption in this study was that all the participants did not have health insurance covers.
