Behavioral Characteristics From Infancy To Childhood
Infancy is the period between the first year of birth. Childhood is the period between the first year of life and adolescence. During this period of infancy to childhood, there are dynamics in the child’s behavior, temperaments, nutrition, activity, and sleep. A child’s temperament is based on an individual’s differences in reactivity and self-regulation inactivity, attention, and affect. According to Arguz Cildir, et al, (2020), temperaments in infancy and childhood dimensions are positive activity level, emotionality, fearfulness, attentional orienting, and anger. Temperament Characteristics
During infancy and early childhood, temperamental characteristics influence the child’s development. These temperaments may predispose the child to certain behavioral and emotional problems. They determine how the child interacts with other people and their response to certain situations (Arguz Cildir, et al, 2020). For example, a difficult child finds it hard to relate with other people because they are easily provoked and offended. Understanding a child’s temperament helps the parents learn how to help the child express their needs. Behavioral Characteristics From Infancy to Childhood Essay
Nutritional Barriers, Hygiene, Activity And Sleep
When the baby develops from infancy into childhood, they gradually change their nutritional behavior. In infancy, they are not able to express their preference while in childhood they can express what they prefer to eat (Switkowski, et al, 2020). This is because they have developed taste buds. Most parents find it very challenging during the upbringing of the child because the baby rejects a variety of foods. They end up losing weight that predisposes them to diseases due to low immunity. Therefore parents should learn their child’s nutritional preferences and become patient during the feeding sessions to improve their health and stable weight gain chart. At infancy, the baby has reduced activity level, sleeps for longer hours and is not hygiene conscious while at the childhood age the baby is more active, sleeps for few hours and hygiene conscious. As children grow, they adapt to the normalcy of their surrounding environment. Behavioral Characteristics From Infancy to Childhood Essay
