Textbook-Broderick, P. C., & Blewitt, P. (2015). The life span: Human development for helping professionals (4th ed.). Upper Saddle River, NJ: Pearson. Thanks (Andrea) Death is something that every person will experience weather its now or later. As a young adult I had to experience the death of my mother which was very painful because we had a very close relationship. I still feel her death as the years go pass. My mother was only 51 years young when she passed and it left a void in my heart that no other person could ever fill until I really met Jesus and he began to heal my hurt.

I have been praying since I can remember that I would have a long and peaceful life before my time comes. When it comes to facing death, I would be telling a fib if I said that I was ready. I’m not ready because of things that I want to do for God and I ask that he will allow me to continue to do them for such a long time and I have the faith that he will do it because I have submitted myself to God. All I have to do is to ask what I need from God and I know that he will grant it to me because of my faith in him and my obedience to him. I have no fear of death because I know that I am going to heaven and when I get there I will get my chance to see God and some of my love ones who have gone on to glory. I will not have to face any more problems and sickness down here in this world because I will be where there is no more hurt and pain. I know that God hear and answer prayers so I do not worry about things that I have no control over and I try to enjoy each and every day to the fullest no matter what takes place.

Thanatologist are people who study death and dying, suggest that death education should be an important component of everyone’s schooling. A relative new term, “death education” has emerged. Death education encompasses programs that teach about death, dying, and grief, and death education is designed to help people of all ages deal better with death and dying, both other’s death and their own personal morality. Because death is not discussed we tend to hide the fact sometimes that its real and if we do not start discussing this reality it may effect the people we love because they will not know how to confront their feelings about death when it occurs or to gain a more realistic sense of it” (Feldman, (2014).

There are several types of death education programs instituted as follows: (1) crisis intervention education-is used in extreme cases and less extreme times also, (2) routine death education-in school classes such as psychology, human development, sociology, and education, and (3) death education for members of the helping professionals- help counselees to deal with loss and also help themselves concerning death” (Feldman, (2014).

Kubler-Ross was responsible for bringing into public awareness the phenomenon of death, which previously had languished out of sight in Western societies and her contributions have been particularly influential among those who provide direct care to the dying. Kubler-Ross also suggest that the hardest part of death is acceptance and that people who have come to a point of acceptance have clearly made it up in their minds and have a peace about death within them (Feldman, (2014).

Psychologist Edwin Scheidman, suggests that there are “themes” in people’s reactions to dying that can occur and recur in any order throughout the dying process, such feelings and thoughts as incredulity, a sense of unfairness, fear of pain or even general terror, and fantasies of being rescued (Feldman, (2014).

Advance cancer is one of the hardest things to face when facing death (Retrieved from: http://www.cancer.org). I can agree with their theory because I had colon cancer and the most important thing was that I had to wonder about facing death but because of my relationship with God, he assured me that I would be alright. I have seen children and my uncle had terminal cancer and watch them just vanish before my eyes until they passed away. John 11:25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:(Retrieved from: http://kingjamesbibleonline.org.). God gave his only son, Jesus, who died on the cross for us and we all have to face death someday so we must be ready when our time comes.
