The use of cannabidiol has attracted public interest particularly in the treatment of epilepsy in children. Ethical issues arising from the use of CBO oil in pediatrics include the level of autonomy and informed consent (Chadwick & Gallagher, 2016). I will seek informed consent from the participants’ parents or legal guardians to ensure that my research is carried out in an ethical manner. I will also seek verbal or written consent from children capable of given assent. I will also inform the participants, their parents and guardians of all the information regarding the use of CBO and its implications to ensure autonomy as they are allowed an opportunity to accept or reject the treatment. Recruitment of participants for the research will be conducted at the Township Hospital. Approvals will be obtained from the University as well as the hospital to ensure that the research is conducted ethically. Pediatric patients will be selected from various age groups and request to volunteer with the promise of offering them sweets after the study. This was meant to entice them in participating in the research. Parents are also involved in the recruitment of children and both of them are involved in the explanation of what the research entailed to promote informed consent and autonomy (Chadwick & Gallagher, 2016).
Quantitative data will be collected through interviews and observation methods. Interviews with the participants will involve direct physical contact whereby participants will be asked questions regarding their name, age, gender, background and health status before and after the administration of CBD oil. Observation will seek to investigate the behavioral changes of participants in pediatrics while interviews will give a personal account of what of the events occurring in their bodies.
