A qualitative research design is appropriate because it functions in a manner that helps to reveal the perception and behavior of the target audience with reference to the topic being studied. The results from applying the design are more descriptive such that inferences can be easily drawn from the collected data. In essence, the qualitative research design allows the participants to have a voice, telling the researcher why the population of interest have feelings and thoughts that might affect the way they respond to adult family members diagnosed with schizophrenia. Given this awareness, data anonymization should be applied where possible so that participants are not recognized outside the research. Although true anonymization may be difficult to achieve as some of the participants could be identified from their stories, it is important to include any personal information. In addition, there is a need to balance the responsibility of reporting the findings honestly and accurately versus the potential harm to the participants (Hall & Roussel, 2022).
