Health Care Management Review
Health Care Management Review
The health care system addresses the health issues experienced in the society, provides preventive interventions as well as treatment options. The quality of care delivered in the healthcare facilities determines the outcome of the patients with regard to expenditure, recovery, hospital stay and readmissions among others including inpatient contraction of infections. Advanced practice nurses are presented with social responsibilities of evaluating and monitoring the type of healthcare provided in healthcare organizations. As such, this paper seeks to explain how quality of care is measured and monitored and the achieved outcomes by the advanced practice nurse. Health Care Management Review

The quality of care delivered by advanced care nurses can be evaluated via structural measures. These give an overview of the hospitals capability in reference to its systems, capacity and healthcare processes (Rios-Zertuche et al., 2018). In general, it entails the evaluation of the infrastructure and their ability to deliver health services. The factors measured include the care delivery policy environment, staff competences and skill, availability of resources and staffing within the hospital setting. The ratio of providers to patients, board-certified physician’s number and the use of electronic medical records or medication order entry systems. Within the organization is also evaluated during the structural measurement of quality care.
On the other hand, the measurement of the process is necessary for quality. It indicates the providers practices geared towards maintenance and improvement of health regardless of their state whether healthy, diagnosed or undiagnosed. It is also used to inform the consumers of the expected quality of service and the organizational conditions. It monitors the consistency of the hospital to deliver specific services according to the quality care guidelines, procedures and standards (Goff et al., 2019). As such, they focus on treatment and healthcare procedures assessing the ability of the nurse to meet the process requirements and how clear they are which assists in generation of straightforward and actionable feedback to improve healthcare quality.
Outcome measures monitor the health of the patient following the type of care received during their course of treatment. It evaluates the intended or unintended impacts imposed by the services delivered, the functionality and the current health status of the patient. The assessment helps determine whether the treatment goals have been accomplished successfully and determines any medical errors during the process. It entails the measure of disease incidences, survival rates, death rates and the patient satisfaction. Notably, the patient experience measures evaluate the interpersonal aspects of care. These are the information on accessibility, provided by advanced practice nurses, the clarity of the results and the frequency as well as convenience of urgent appointments (Tsai, Orav & Jha, 2015). Positive Patient experience is directly proportional to the quality of care delivered and as such makes up a significant measure towards improvement of performance. Patients provide timely feedback which can be acted upon immediately. Health Care Management Review
The outcomes achieved by an Advanced Practice Nurse during measurement and monitoring include the patient’s satisfaction levels. These are obtained from anonymous and voluntary feedbacks. Another outcome is the ration of the patient and the staff as well as the number of equipment and facilities in the organization used in the provision of care. In addition, the nurse obtains the morbidity and mortality rates associated with their department and the organization in general which help in the improvement of healthcare quality to optimize their performance. They also identify the organizations weaknesses and strengths with regard to patient care, infrastructure and process.
