How might you go about confronting guilt?
In counseling, you may find that clients–like Jean–might believe that God cannot forgive them because of the magnitude of their past sin(s). They experience extreme guilt that doesn’t seem to go away—even after it appears that they have repented. Given the scripture below, can you imagine that you may some day have to confront a client’s guilt about his/her sin? How might you go about confronting guilt?
“Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, ‘I will confess my transgressions to the LORD.’ And you forgave the guilt of my sin.” (Psalm 32:5)
