The Implicit Association Test : 5 easy steps to follow
Goal: 1) Learning about the Implicit Association Test. \
2) Exploring how general social-psychological principles can inform our understanding of stereotyping, prejudice, and discrimination.
As we draw closer to the end of the semester, please find time to complete the following tasks. Follow the steps carefully to ensure your assignment is complete and gets full credit.1-Read the modules on ‘The Reach of Prejudice’ (22) and ‘The Roots of Prejudice’
(23). Take note of important examples, definitions, principles.2- Go to https://implicit.harvard.edu/implicit/ and complete one of the Implicit Association Test available.
The Implicit Association Test (IAT) was developed by social psychologists Mahzarin Banaji and Anthony Greenwald have been taken by some 20 million people since created in 1998.

Guide Questions:- How does the Implicit Association Test work? What is it designed to ‘measure’?- How does the test relate to the concepts in Modules 22 and 23?
Briefly discuss at least two concepts from each chapter. Use direct quotes from the modules to strengthen your discussion. In particular quote relevant definitions directly from the book.
– How does the IAT relate to concepts and principles discussed in the class this semester?
What connections do you see between how the IAT works and the course’s central themes (for example, the limits of self-knowledge, the dual processing model of the mind, the intensely social nature of our species, the notion that ‘evolution made us for culture’, or the idea of the power of the situation)
?-How can these tests be useful? How have they been used? (look it up!)-Could the IAT offer a window into the human mind in general? How? Why? Please elaborate.
– What was the experience like for you? What did it make you think or feel? (Remember that you do not have to reveal the outcome of your test).
