A good leader possesses exemplary qualities such as trustworthiness, confidence, compassion, and integrity. A leader should be trusted and lead with integrity and honesty in order to inspire followers and be a role model for them. Genuine authority emerges from respect for trustworthiness and the good character of the leader. In addition, a leader should be confident in order to inspire followers and use compassion to detect and identify needs of follows and make a decision that has the greatest benefit to the team (American Nurses Association, 2015). According to the discussed leadership skills, I think others perceive my leadership style as inspiring and motivating. This is because I focus on motivating people to persuade them to deliver the set objectives and vision (American Nurses Association, 2015). I also believe that people perceive my leadership style as transformational because I normally use rapport and empathy to engage others during leadership. Lastly, I think others perceive me as a leader able to develop strong relationships with team members and ensure effective collaboration within the team.
Teamwork is the aspect if TEACH values that would benefit my work environment most. This is because teamwork and collaboration, as well as effective communication aspects, are extremely effective during care provision and in ensuring high-quality care and good health outcomes. It is important for healthcare providers to collaborate well and work as a team. Working as a team can also ensure improved patient satisfaction, efficient use of resources, improved health outcomes, as well as improved job satisfaction for the healthcare workers working as a team (American Nurses Association, 2015).
