Work Environmental Assessment Essay
Nursing work is the most dangerous occupation compared to other professions. This is because nurses experience work-related crimes and workplace violence related to increased workload, work-related stress due to increasingly complex patient population, and deteriorating relationship at bedside between the patient and the nurse. In addition to that, incivility in healthcare is the major cause of an unsafe working environment, poor patient care, and increased medical costs (Yamamoto, et al, 2021). Incivility and disruptive behavior in nursing practice and academics are common and frequently ignored. They lead to a toxic work environment, poor working relations, poor patient outcomes, and work overload.

The healthcare workplace seems to be a stressful environment due to; fall short of communication in a respectful and considerate way between the nurses and other healthcare professionals (Bailey, S. 2019). Healthy communication enables the nurses to feel free and empowers them to speak up. Hence, it reduces uncivil encounters in the working environment and improves patient safety. The theory explains what makes a healthy workplace, ways of engaging in challenging conversations, and creating a safe zone for communication.
How The Theory Relates To The Results Of Workplace Environment
Communication theory is critical in maintaining a safe work environment. It relates to the results of the workplace environment in the previous article by training nursing students on the importance of proper communication skills and holding civil conversations in class and their practice (Bailey, S. 2019). Two Strategies Implemented To Address The Shortcomings In The Work Environment
Workplace incivility is poor behavior demonstrated through actions of being impolite or violating norms at the workplace. Causes of workplace incivility in the nursing profession are workplace hazards, increased workload, and long working shifts (Suliman, et al, 2018).
